Old Testament Prophets Fortelling the Coming of Jesus

The Prophets of the Old Testament, were men and women anointed by God through the Holy Spirit to speak for Him. They served as spiritual leaders whose guidance was often sought after and coveted. They were also sometimes unpopular especially as proclaimer's of God's judgment against; his chosen people, rulers or nations.

One of the most fascinating aspects of the Old Testament is Gods use of the Prophet to foretell the coming of His Son, Jesus. The study of these prophecies is not only personally satisfying, but once understood they become a powerful witnessing tool to unbelievers, especially to our Jewish neighbors and friends.

Some of the most beloved prophecies come from the Prophet Isaiah, whose writings are filled with prophetic references to Christ. Isaiah speaks of Christ as: Immanuel, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, Cornerstone, Lord, King, Shepard, Lamb of God, Anointed One, Leader and Commander, Elect One, Rod of Jesse, Branch of the Lord, Redeemer, and the Servant of Yahweh.

Of all of the Old Testament prophecies about Jesus, the coming Messiah, Isaiah chapter 53 contains the most powerful, explaining in great detail His victorious death on the cross.
