As
our mouths dropped, we looked at one another in unbelief.
Some moved nervously in their seats as Minister G. Craige
Lewis, who heads EX Ministries talked to Covenant Church
Of Pittsburgh's first night Harvest Festival attendees
honestly about Hip Hop music and its detrimental effects
on young people. I have never seen such effective ministry
for young people, ministry which brought most of them
to the altar for repentance and deliverance. The day
following his initial presentation young and old alike
brought in music CD's, tapes and other paraphernalia
to be destroyed. In just two days the devils stronghold
over their lives was broken and the healing process
begun.
Most
of us of the 30's plus generation have been perplexed
about the seeming addiction of young people to music
that is blatantly ungodly. We hear it blaring from their
cars and they seem to have no idea that the often-obscene
lyrics are offensive. I've often thought about going
up to one of these young people and saying " Don't you
know that, this music is hurting you? Don't you know
that the enemy (the devil) just wants to destroy you?"
Minister
Lewis accomplished what I've only dreamed about in only
2 services. It was simple, he has spent time studying:
the music, it's history and it lyrics, countless music
videos, and the background of performers who are making
millions of dollars promoting their own gospel.
When
presented with the truth, the only thing any reasonable
person professing Christian values could do was to denounce
it. Minister Lewis who has been traveling around the
country talking to young people as part of his Youth
On Fire series is available to speak to congregations
or youth groups. You can find out more by going to his
website at www.exministries.com.
