Bridging
the Gap Individuality
should be the most important influence
on a woman’s style.
The
Fashion Industry’s influence on a woman’s
style has been somewhat imbalanced. Every season women
from all walks of life, buy countless fashion magazines
to keep them on the pulse of high fashion. The travesty
is that most of the fashions that are created do not
represent the “average woman.”
The
everyday working woman or stay at home mom, tends to
forget that they look nothing like the mannequin in
the store. So they rush in to their favorite stores
to buy the “must haves, “ before anyone
else. Although there are some educated consumers who
will wait for sales or search for the most unique pieces
they can get their hands on.
Individuality
should be the most important influence on a woman’s
style. So why does the fashion Industry’s trends
determine what we spend our money on? The answer is
our inability to embrace our individuality or in other
words it’s simply need for acceptance.
Women have always been obsessed about their appearance,
and the strong desire for the approval of others.
Since
God did not create all women to be amazons, Super Models
or Super Stars, He must like variety. There has always
been a huge gap between what the models are wearing
on the catwalk verses what’s being worn to work.
But a change has come.
Designers
can now see the big picture. They have shifted their
focus to the “Real Woman.” The everyday
mothers, daughters, and sisters have tremendous buying
power, and a strong desire to be fashionable.
Some
of the most sought after fashion designers like Isaac
Mizrahi, have decided to bridge the gap. Isaac’s
clothes are now being sold in Target departments stores.
Target also carries high quality make-up lines. Every
woman can experience the look and feel of well made
clothes. You to can have clean lines, great fabrics
and styles that accentuate all of the real live Divas.
