Trend
is Your Friend Clothes do not make us, we make the clothes
Remember
the song, “If it aint broke don’t’
fix it.” I think this just might be the national
anthem of a lot of women regarding their attire. While
I agree with the argument against spending frivolously,
stylish clothes are much more affordable today.
You
can’t go wrong when you invest in well made classic
pieces; but, adding a few fashionable outfits, with
each new season can be just enough to spice up your
wardrobe.
Ladies,
begin imagining yourself in different styles and move
out of your comfort zone. Go out and try something trendy
on. I’d like to offer a word of caution; “try
these clothes on in your size,” not your imaginable
size, after you finally stick to the South Beach Diet.
Be
patient and give yourself time to adjust to the image
you see in that dressing room mirror. Sometimes it’s
helpful to take a good friend along for support, suggestions,
and even the cold hard truth.
Most
of the hot new styles for each season offers most women
an option. Consider the color, the feel and whether
or not it complements your unique shape. Clothes do
not make us, we make the clothes.
Have
fun with your new wardrobe. Don’t be so uptight
or timid about wearing a bold pattern, or a brighter
shade. However, don’t get carried away, to the
point where you have to invest in too many other pieces
to get enough wear out of one garment. Start with a
shirt that you can wear with jeans you already own,
then expand your horizons.
I
understand how you feel. I recall wearing only black
and white for many years. I’m not sure if that
was indicative of being among the fashion challenged,
but, I had to snap out of it. I encourage you, my fabulous
sisters of all ages, sizes, ethnicities, to live a little.
God
has meticulously designed the most beautiful tapestry
of colors and textures, when He made the world. Many
fashions are inspired by nature and the colors that
each season brings. Celebrate the wonders of this beautiful
world God has created for you to enjoy, it will enhance
your style.
