If there
was ever a time that we needed to let our lights shine,
that time is now. Moral decline and spiritual bondage
is so pervasive it’s unsettling. I could not have
imagined years ago, what would become our moral reality
today. Sharing your faith, your testimony or just simply
praying for or with a co-worker could have lasting and
eternal consequences. I’ve often been surprised
that most of the people I’ve shared the gospel
with really wanted or needed to hear the good news.
They were ripe for harvest into the kingdom.
There are
some things that you can do to make your Christian witness
at work more effective:
Pray that
God would create opportunities for you. It is true that
the steps of the righteous are ordered by the Lord,
you are not working at your present place of employment
by accident. God can divinely put you in situations
that will enable you to share your faith.
The excellence
with which we perform our jobs can be the most powerful
witnesses we have. The Old Testament character Joseph
was one who was given the responsibility of being the
overseer of Potiphar’s house because “his
master saw that the Lord was with him, and that the
Lord made all that he did prosper in his hand.1”.
He ultimately was promoted to ruler over Egypt only
second to Pharaoh who said of Joseph “Can we find
such a one as this, a man in who the spirit of God is?

Let you supervisor,
manager and/or co-workers see you do your job as if
you are doing it for God. Using work time to pray for
others or share your testimony, when you are not doing
what you were hired to do could diminish your witness
and your ability to share Christ with others.
Sharing your
faith at work could be one of the most important assignments
that the Lord has given you. The salvation of your co-workers
may hang in the balance – waiting for you to make
the difference. With the Holy Sprits help – you
can become an instrument in God’s hand –
leading the lost to salvation through the shed blood
of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
